Cathy and Her Cat, Kiki

Cathy loved animals. She was featured in a news article about saving a dog; it showed just how much she did love animals.

Her two cats, Kiki and Smokey, and her bunny Sunny all died with her in the fire.

When they found Cathy, Kiki was found in her arms.

Cathy loved children, animals and the elderly

I remember how proud she was working at the Childcare Center. She had a love for all children, regardless of the color of their skin or gender.

Cathy spent many long hours working at homes for the elderly, and worked as a nanny for two years.

Cathy volunteered

Many times Cathy volunteered for the elderly, the homeless, children, and animal shelters

Many charities have benefited from Cathy’s volunteering and generosity, such as the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Children’s Hospital Free Care Fund, Epilepsy Foundation, Salvation Army, Humane Society, and women’s homeless shelters.

Cathy also provided blankets, coats, hats, gloves, and anything else she could find to provide comfort for homeless and less fortunate. Cathy especially loved providing toys for children to many women shelters in Pittsburgh.

Cathy

She told me about a week before she died, “Dad, life is on loan to us, and we have to be careful what we do do with it.”

I’m sure by reading her poetry, you will see how spiritual and special she was.
